Cops not amused by postings on late Johor Sultan

Paadian-paadian sebangsa.

KUALA LUMPUR: The individual who posted up a YouTube clip that was poking fun at the late Sultan of Johor is in trouble.

Ampang district police chief Abdul Jalil Hassan told The Malay Mail this morning that they are seeking the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's (MCMC) assistance to trace the originator of the video clip.

"A report was lodged last night at 10pm by a man after watching the clip on YouTube. We are working together with the MCMC to determine the person who posted the video."

The report was lodged by Bernama's Radio 24 newscaster Ibnu Khusairi Ibnu Aris at the Hulu Kelang police station.

In his report, he claimed to have seen the video clip, entitled "Sultan Johor Remix" at his home in Datuk Keramat here about 1.30pm on Saturday.

According the police report, the clip showed the late Sultan giving his speech at a function related to the Iskandar Development Region in which his 'voice' was dubbed to utter humorous words.

This was the second case involving an insult to the late Sultan of Johor, Sultan Iskandar ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail, who passed away last Friday.

Yesterday, the 29-year-old man who allegedly posted disparaging remarks over the Sultan's passing in his blog was arrested.

Blogger 'Aduka Taruna', who was nabbed in Kota Baru, Kelantan, by Federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) officers, is believed to be involved in the film industry.

When contacted this morning, Federal CCID Commissioner, Datuk Koh Hong Sun, said the suspect is remanded for four days, until Jan 29.

"He is arrested to assist in police investigations under Section 4(1) Seditions Act and Section 233 Communication Multimedia Act."

Although Aduka Taruna had apologised and removed the post, many felt he had gone overboard while others were calling the authorities to act against him, prompting several police reports being lodged against him.
